INDIGESTION



Indigestion

Simple constipation generally occurs due to inactivity, improper diet or by disregarding the calls of nature. Hence for proper treatment one must know the cause.
Proper dietetic treatment is generally preferable to medical management. A diet containing salads, green vegetables and fresh fruits helps to relieve constipation.also add lot of rich fibre contented vegetables in your food. However, sometimes’ laxatives are required. Prudently prescribed, laxatives provide a stimulus for the intestines and may start a regular bowel movement. Most laxatives are harmless provided they are taken in adequate dosage and withdrawn after sometime.

For indigestion take a drink made of a spoonful of ginger juice, a teaspoon of lemon juice mixed with a bottle of soda. Salt or sugar can also be added. Take a pinch of pure wood ash daily in the morning and drink a glass of water; this will keep your bowels clean and blood pure, and will ward off skin ailments.

Put 2 or 3 tender leaves of “tulasi” in a glass of water over-night and diink this water early in the morning. This will clean your bowels and purify your blood. If you have lost your appetite and cannot stomach your breakfast in the mornings, take the juice of a whole lemon in hot water every morning, and you will be surprised to see how it gets you going again and opens out your appetite, like an aperient. . Here is an excellent cream of garlic soup, which does wonders for weak digestion.

Cook 4no's cut-up cloves of garlic in a cup of milk, add salt and pepper, strain, dot with cream. Besides righting the digestion it will induce deep, sound sleep. Take a few tender green leaves of neem ground into paste, form them into tiny balls and dry them for storage. Taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, they cure billiousness, improve the condition of the blood and increase one’s appetite. This will also prevent and control diabetes.

Tension, worry and anxiety affect the secretion, mobility and blood supply of the stomach adversely leading to indigestion and pain. If the emotional experience is prolonged, the result may be actual ulceration ultimately. When the causes of such negative emotions are removed sufficiently early, normal functioning of the stomach is restored. Feelings of well-being, joy and happiness are essential for the normal digestive processes to go on. Don’t allow your emotions to affect your digestion adversely and thereby your total health.

Treatment for indigestion:-
  • Eat a little “ajwain”. or, heat a glass of buttermilk and water with a little jeera (cummin- seed), curry leaf and bruised dry or fresh ginger. This will make a refreshing drink at night.
  • The best use of “amia” (Nelli/amla) is a digestive tonic. It has been found that use of “amia” in the diet for a sufficiently long period regulates and tones up the digestive system and cures nearly all the ailments of the alimentary canal unless they have reached the chronic stage.
  • By using a small piece of ginger in your daily food in any form you can be free from indigestion and other stomach troubles.
  • Ginger is like a digestive tonic.
  • Those suffering from high blood pressure and digestive disorders can find immense relief by taking garlic either raw or cooked.
  • The best way, however, of taking it is to eat three or four cloves of raw garlic early in the morning and again at tea time.
  • Regular use of garlic will, besides lowering the blood pressure, create a feeling of general well-being and physical fitness together with mental alertness and stamina.
  • Ginger pieces mixed with a little salt, taken along with principal meals go a long way in increasing digestion and appetite. Ginger mixed with a little lemon-juice, if taken regularly removes allergy, cures nausea, vomitting sensation and other gastric troubles and disorders including constipation.
